SHIENRYU PS1 ASPECT RATIO MANUAL
Manual Zoom + : Decrease zoom level by 10 + : Increase Zoom level by 10 FunKey menu¶. Quick shortcuts¶ + : Change Aspect Ratio (AR), cycle between: Stretched (default) Cropped.
Some of the PS1's "high res" games are also only 240 lines but 512 or 640 wide. The FunKey S provides 2 ways to to allow in-game change of the display aspect ratio. Now looking at that, remember that Playstation fans call anything above 400 lines "high res", which actually ranges from 384, 512 or 640 wide. Its possible some game devs mightve compensated for the CRT distortion and thus natively designed their games pre-distorted to show up properly on a TV, if that makes sense.
SHIENRYU PS1 ASPECT RATIO TV
Some of the games with the highest hype-to-players ratio are on this platform. From my experience emulating PS1 games, most tend to have a native output thats relatively square, versus a standard NTSC TV thats probably 4:3, or more rectangular. I posted this earlier but here it is again: The Sega Saturn is actually, from everything Ive read, even PSX fans. The Saturn has a lot more than just one high resolution mode, just like the Playstation.
If you see shimmer on a Saturn display you know it is an interlaced resolution if you don't it might be a non-interlaced mode. Speaking of interlacing, "shimmer" isn't proof of anything but an interlaced mode. Also, proper deinterlacing does show the difference between 30FPS and 60FPS source material in the same way an SDTV looks smother even though it is still only displaying 30Frames a second. We are only using the Youtube videos because people here won't click on the 60FPS video links that have been provided.
